Poetry is one of my very favorite things to use in preschool and kindergarten! So, of course I’ve got to have a set of Thanksgiving poems for you! You can even add them to your shared reading time TODAY! (If you want to see how I use shared reading in preschool, go check out this post: Ten Little Apples | Using Poetry in Preschool.) You can write the poems on chart paper or sentence strips, OR you can get my poetry packs on TPT! Each one includes the poem in color and black & white (for poetry folders or take-home versions), little readers so each kiddos gets her own copy in book format, and retelling pieces in color and black & white that you can use while you’re reading to keep your kiddos engaged and in centers after your kiddos know the poem! Take a look at the three Thanksgiving poems, and when you decide you want to use all three of them, scroll to the bottom for a link to my Thanksgiving Poetry Packs Bundle!
Ten Little Pilgrims
This adorable poem is extra fun because you can read it OR sing it! Plus, it throws in some counting skills, too! To get your kiddos more engaged while you’re reading it, turn it into a fingerplay by having them hold up their fingers as you sing, or give them number cards to hold up!

Five Little Turkeys
I love, love, love poems about five little anythings! So, I had to create a “Five Little Turkeys” poem! But, I definitely wanted a poem that tells about the turkeys enjoying Thanksgiving dinner rather than becoming Thanksgiving dinner! So, here it is! They all get to gobble some pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving Day!

Thanksgiving Dinner
This one isn’t a poem. It’s a predictable chart. But, the kiddos love these just as much! I love to shake things up when we’re doing these by reading a word incorrectly on purpose! On this one, you might plug in some super gross things that you would never eat like worms, smelly socks, or dirt. Your kiddos will immediately react and become instantly more engaged because they will want to catch you right away if you do it again!

But, didn’t you say there would be a bundle down here?” YES I DID! And, here it is! Just click on the product cover to get all three Thanksgiving poetry packs in my TPT store!
You might also want to check out my other Thanksgiving ideas! I’ve got posts up about my Thanksgiving busy boxes AND three different sets of Thanksgiving circle time games!
